The calm before the storm

Tonight is the last night I will be the father of just one child.

Sara's c-section is scheduled for 8 a.m. Monday morning. I am terribly excited to see the newest member of our family — and to find out whether my my youngest child is a boy or girl. I've really enjoyed the gender suspense over the last nine months.

I was pretty sentimental tonight as we put Laura to bed. Both sets of grandparents are here, and she knows something is going to happen tomorrow, but she really has no idea how much our lives are about to change.

Tonight was the last time we'll ever put our first-born to bed as a family of three. There was something special — and slightly sad — about that moment. I had a feeling she understood something about that moment, too.

As for Monday's big event, here's your challenge: Guess the baby's gender and weight and post your predictions by 3 p.m. The closest guess will win a special shout-out on this blog. I will post photos and updates starting around 3 p.m.

Oh, I almost forgot. We received an offer on our house today. Wow. It's going to be a busy week.

We appreciate your prayers tomorrow, and we are eternally thankful for God's faithfulness in all situations.

Either gender will be wonderful! But, I'm guessing a boy around 8 lbs even. And, as I told Sara already, our prayers are with you. We love you guys and are excited with you. May God bless each of you today.

Girl, 7lbs. 3oz. It's supposed to have happened by the time I post this so: congratulations, Jim and Sara!

A girl weighing in at 7 lbs 7 oz. Of course, I may be completely wrong. You may have a 10 lb. boy!

Early congrats and I look forward to seeing pics of your new baby!

Awesome news on the house! Isn't God's timing amazing?

3pm is a long time for us to wait!
I guess that is really 2pm for me!

I am pulling for a boy, 7 lbs. 9 oz.

I remember the last night we put Hannah to bed before I was induced, I was an emotional mess!

Anxious to hear.

Congratulations are surely in order by now...you are in our prayers! I am guessing the baby could potentially, possibly, maybe, hypothetically, until-most-assuredly, be of the male gender and weigh in at a strapping 8 lbs. 8 oz.

Better stock up in the pantry!

So you won't be outnumbered, I'll hope for a boy. Let's say 8 pounds, 10 ounces.

Congrats in advance!
